What sells most: brands
The brands that come up most in the sales of our September 2026 Barometer. A brand only appears with at least 5 sales from 3 different sellers.
A well-known brand name in the title brings in buyers searching for exactly that. That’s why the title should start with the brand (see Title and description).
What sells most: categories
In September 2026, sweatshirts and jumpers came first, which makes sense in early autumn. Categories move with the seasons: the Barometer is updated every month.
Small prices or statement pieces?
Two strategies work, and they don’t mix well:
- Volume at small prices: 56% of sales are under €20. It clears a wardrobe fast, but each sale earns little. Bundles and multi-item discounts help.
- Statement pieces: shoes (€45 median) and jackets (€30) sell for 2 to 3 times the median sale (€16). Fewer sales, more per sale.
What pays off for resellers
Across the 242 sales where the seller had recorded a purchase price, the item was resold at a median of 2.6 times its purchase price, for a median profit of €11. 87% of these sales were made at a profit.
- Jackets and coats: resold at 3.1 times the purchase price (median), €20 profit.
- Shoes: ×2.6, €22 median profit, the biggest profit per item of all categories.
- Kids’ clothes: ×0.8 median, so sold for less than they cost. Sell them to clear space, not for margin.
