Vinted guide
The Vinted algorithm: what really pushes a listing up
Vinted doesn’t publish its algorithm. But its official pages say what matters: the feed is personalised to members’ preferences, your followers are notified of every new item and every price drop, Bumps push a listing up, and listings that break the catalogue rules can be hidden.
In short
- Official: the feed is personalised; bumped items are shown to the members most likely to be interested.
- Official: your followers are notified when you list an item or lower a price.
- Official: mentioning other brands in the description can get the listing hidden or removed.
- Logical: search works on words and filters, so a precise title and complete fields matter.
- Myth: there’s no magic hour or hidden trick that replaces a good listing.
What Vinted officially says
- The feed is personalised. Bumped items are shown to “the members most likely to be interested, based on their preferences”.
- Followers matter. They see your items in their feed and get a notification when you list a new item or lower a price.
- A Bump shows the item higher in the feed and in search for 3 or 7 days.
- Showcase gives several of your items more visibility in buyers’ feeds.
- Catalogue rules apply. A description that mentions brands other than the item’s own can be hidden or removed.
- Official best practices: quality photos, detailed descriptions, a verified profile, several shipping options.
What follows from it (logic, not official)
Vinted doesn’t go further. But some consequences are mechanical:
- Search is words and filters. A precise title (brand, model, size) and complete fields put you in more searches.
- Regularity multiplies your chances. Each new item is a notification for your followers: posting in several batches beats posting everything at once.
- Interest can be worked. A favourite is a potential buyer: an offer at the right moment turns a visit into a sale.
- Personalisation rewards clarity. If Vinted shows items to the members they interest, your listing needs to say clearly what it is.
Myths to forget
| What you hear | What we know |
|---|---|
| “You have to post at a specific time” | Vinted doesn’t publish an ideal time. Regularity matters more than timing. |
| “Deleting and relisting pushes items up” | A relisted item is a new item, so your followers are notified. But you lose the favourites and the listing’s history. Improve photo, title and price first. |
| “Hashtagging lots of brands attracts views” | It breaks the Catalogue Rules: the listing may be hidden or removed. |
| “A Bump is enough to sell” | Vinted itself advises bumping only listings that follow its best practices. A Bump amplifies; it doesn’t fix. |
The visibility checklist
- First photo: the whole item, sharp, daylight.
- Title: brand + type + model + colour + size.
- Every field filled in.
- Honest description, no brand other than the right one.
- Price within the range for the same item, same condition.
- Uploads spread across the week.
- Offers sent to people who favourite, fast replies.
- Bump only a listing that’s already clean.
Frequently asked questions
How does the Vinted algorithm work?
Vinted doesn’t publish its formula. Officially, the feed is personalised to members’ preferences, followers are notified of new items and price drops, and a Bump pushes a listing up for 3 or 7 days.
Why do my items get no views?
Most often: an unclear first photo, a vague title, empty fields or an off-market price. Also check your description doesn’t mention other brands, which Vinted can penalise.
Should I relist my items on Vinted?
Relisting creates a new item (your followers are notified) but loses the favourites. It’s an option after improving photo, title and price, not a reflex.
Do followers help you sell?
Yes: followers see your items in their feed and are notified when you list or lower a price. Posting regularly helps you gain them.
