Vinted guide
Vinted title and description: the method for a listing that sells
A good Vinted title says exactly what the item is: brand, type, model, colour, size. A good description answers questions before they’re asked: real condition, flaws, measurements, material. And one rule never to forget: don’t mention any brand other than the item’s own.
In short
- Title: brand + type + model or detail + colour + size.
- Fill in every field (category, brand, size, condition, colour, material): they are the buyers’ filters.
- Description: honest condition, flaws, flat measurements, materials, any alterations.
- Banned: mentioning other brands, even as hashtags. Vinted hides or removes those listings.
- Honesty means fewer returns: buyers can request a return if the item is significantly different.
The title formula
Vinted recommends including the details that set your item apart (brand, colour, type, unique features) and avoiding words that don’t. Its own example: prefer “New pink Zara mini evening dress” to “Very nice dress”.
Brand + type + model or detail + colour + size, with the essentials first.
| Item | Title |
|---|---|
| Trainers | Adidas Samba Wales Bonner black suede UK 8 |
| Sweatshirt | Isabel Marant logo sweatshirt heather grey |
| Jeans | Levi’s 501 raw denim blue W32 L32 |
| Jacket | Zara black leather jacket notch collar S |
These examples illustrate the formula: always adapt the size and details to your item.
The fields: leave nothing empty
Category, brand, size, condition, colour, material: buyers use these to filter searches. An empty field is a filter your item won’t appear in. Vinted lets you pick main materials in the fields; if there are others, add them to the description.
A description that builds trust
Vinted asks for an accurate, complete description and lists what it should include:
- the item’s measurements;
- materials beyond the ones selected in the fields;
- any alterations (repairs, tailoring…);
- a missing brand label or missing parts;
- the flaws: marks, stains, holes, tears, pilling, faded colour, stretching, odours…
Description template to copy
Condition: [new with tags / very good / good], [specific flaws or “no flaws”].
Size: [label size], fits [true to size / small / large].

Material: [composition from the label].
Carefully packed, shipped within [x] days.
What never to write
- Brands other than the item’s own, written out or as hashtags (for example big brand names on an unbranded sweatshirt to catch searches). The Catalogue Rules forbid it: Vinted hides or removes those listings.
- Empty adjectives instead of information (“gorgeous”, “amazing”).
- Personal details: full name, address, phone number, bank details. Everything goes through Vinted messages.
Frequently asked questions
What should a Vinted title include?
The brand, the item type, the model or a distinctive detail, the colour and the size. Avoid adjectives that don’t describe anything, like “nice” or “good condition”.
Can I use hashtags in a Vinted description?
Never mention a brand other than the item’s own, written out or as a hashtag: Vinted hides or removes listings that do. Focus on useful information instead: condition, measurements, material.
Should I mention flaws?
Yes, always, in the text and in the photos. Buyers can request a return if the item is significantly different from the listing.
Which measurements should I give?
For tops: pit to pit and length, laid flat. For trousers: waist, inseam, length. For shoes: the label size and, if you can, the inner sole length.
